Heart Month: good cooking, good eating, good health
|
Providence Heart and Vascular Institute has a year-round commitment to cardiovascular disease prevention and education, but American Heart Month brings some special features.
This February we’ll once again offer free community events throughout Oregon. These popular events include heart-healthy cooking demonstrations by local chefs. The recipes are taken from Providence’s 2011 Northwest Guide to Heart-Healthy Living.
A Providence cardiovascular expert will be at each event to discuss the prevalence, prevention and treatment of heart and vascular disease and to take questions from the audience.
As a special feature, PHVI cardiologist James Beckerman, M.D., will discuss highlights from his book, “The Flex Diet: Design Your Own Weight-Loss Plan.” A question-and-answer session and book signing follow.
The events are free and seating is limited. Registration is required; call 503-574-6595.
