Providence Portland Medical Center’s Bradley Evans, M.D., appeared on KXL radio to talk about the population’s growing risk of heart disease. Dr. Evans offered advice on diet, exercise and other lifestyle changes.
Todd Caulfield, M.D., was interviewed by KOIN Local 6 following the death of a high school wrestler who had undetected hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Caulfield discussed the benefits of ECG screenings for athletes. He is a cardiologist with Providence St. Vincent Heart Clinic-Cardiology.
Douglas Dawley, M.D., a cardiologist with Providence Portland Medical Center, was included in a KGW-TV segment about birch bark, which is touted as a possible natural remedy for high cholesterol. Dr. Dawley noted that birch bark’s effectiveness has not been tested in clinical trials.
Emilia Arden, M.D., explained to KPTV how women often fail to recognize symptoms of heart disease (Top Stories, scroll to “Heart Disease, No. 1 Killer of American Women”). Dr. Arden, a cardiologist with Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and Northwest Cardiologists, was treating a female patient who had a heart attack at age 48.
